One of the ways that you can be a good steward with the resources God has given you is through the Scrip program here at Redeemer.

We’re pleased to share some exciting news about a new fundraising program for our congregation. It’s called “scrip”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop.

Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” — in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including JCPenny, TJ Max, Holiday, Applebee’s, Red Lobster and many, many others.

You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money. It’s simple — scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our church at a discount. Families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our church keeps the difference as revenue. And scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:

• The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business….
• You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling….
• Our church gets a regular source of revenue.

The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our youth group, child care and preschool without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program! A scrip table will be set up after each worship service in the narthex with volunteers available to take your scrip orders, or you can place your orders in the lock boxes in the preschool and child care hallways, or drop them off in the church office.

You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our church.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When we purchase Scrip cards from retailers, they offer us a substantial discount. So when you buy a card from us, you pay the same price, and we earn the difference – from two to fifteen percent! Before you do your regular shopping, order cards for the same stores from us. You pay nothing extra, but we save big!

We love scrip because you can help support Redeemer without spending any extra money. By simply making the purchases you would be making any way you can support our Preschool, Child Care Program, and Youth Ministries. As a result, we can keep tuition low, explore new educational opportunities for our teachers, and make activities more accessible for our students!
